HI, I'M KIT!
Some fun facts:
- Kit is short for Katie, but Katie is my legal given name.
- I was born and raised in Colorado, and love a good hike.
- Libra sun and moon, Scorpio rising ;)
- I have 2 rescues: a pitbull/chihuahua mix and a chinchilla
- I like to practice ballroom dance in my free time.
STYLE & BACKGROUND
As a single-semester film school student (Fall 2019) I fell in love with the art of telling a story through visuals. With the onslaught of COVID, this admiration translated into graphic design and soon after I made a career pivot into user experience (UX) design for websites and software. The last 4 years of my career in UX have taught me the importance of understanding a client's customer base and what they truly desire.
Inclusivity, ethics, and accessibility are at the forefront of my work style. One of my favorite ways to ensure that I am following this doctrine is by collaborating cross-functionally and welcoming feedback early and often.
I am an individual who started my professional career before obtaining a higher education degree. However, I have earned my certificate of UX/UI from Thinkful (now Chegg) and I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree. I am grateful and proud that I was able to start my career through Workday's Opportunity Onramp program, which provides economic opportunity for folks from "nontraditional backgrounds." I continue to improve my craft day by day at Cengage.
